Hi there, my name’s Amy and I was born in a small English village called Tiptree. You’ve probably never heard of it, but we’re famous for our jam: so famous in fact, the Queen eats it! True story.
I left the UK when I was 18 and moved to Vancouver, Canada, where I spent eight years working for a youth organisation and different churches. It was there that I also met my husband Bas who originally hails from Lelystad. I also trained as an ESL tutor and have been teaching ever since.
Five years ago Bas and I made the move to Zwolle and since then we’ve had two little boys, Ruben and Elijah and I’ve been doing my best to grapple with the Dutch language.
I love teaching English and my most favourite part of it all is seeing students improve in their self confidence. I also love making my lessons as interactive, creative and as inspiring as possible.
In my free time (wait, I’m a mum, what’s ‘free time’ again?) I love watching movies (sci-fi, superheroes, Star Trek and Star Wars!), doing sports, cooking, baking (if you’re lucky, I’ll bring something to a lesson) and spending time with my boys. Oh, and drinking tea!
